This year I decided to expand the type of sensors in our framework. I started in making our own gloves sensors, capable of tracking the movement of the hands.
I did make them myself by attaching a couple of boards and a few position sensitive material on a pair of gloves.
It was not easy to properly connect all the components on the gloves. Normally you would solder components on a fixed and static base. A glove moves! And the challange was to make the connections as dynamic as possible with the right flexible wires and the right length for the wires.
By working on it, I also noticed that the material in use had a good electrical conductivity. At that point I decided to add pads on the tips of the fingers of the glove, and having "Tap" events when the thumb would touch any of the other fingers. The idea "worked".
The Bodynodes gloves therefore they give information of "how closed" you fingers are, but also which fingers you are tapping with the thumb giving the possibility to personalize touch events!
This is a small video showing how they look like and work!
See you soon everyone!!
