A week has already passed since the end of the MakerFaire 2021 in Rome at the Gazometro. It was from the 8th to the 10th of October and the event was from 10am to 7pm. Us, the exhibitors, could access the premises already from the 7th to load-in any equipment, and we could enter from 8am and get ready for the crowd.
At the event I presented the Bodynodes project and made people use my sensors first hand, so that they could have a feeling of what is it about. I made them try my VR games:
SmartShoesFootball: a football/soccer game in which the player can control the feet of the character
HungryKatana: a game in which the player can control the sword of a ninja and cut fruits or chips
CamilloBoxer: a game in which the player can control the arms of a boxer and hit the opponent
The games were thought for everyone's taste.
My stand was the number 11 in pavillon E
I prepared the tables in such a way I could invite people in, and make them wear my sensors and the VR headset in all security, so that they wouldn't hit anyone by chance while trying my games.
I sanitized with alcohol the VR headset and the sensors everytime someone was trying them out and also invited everyone to use the dispenser.
The event was a success! I got more than 200 people and kids to use my sensors and play my games. I invited the people to join my YouTube channel and Facebook page if interested, and I increased my social media network. In some cases I also managed to get a direct contact for possible future collaborations, mainly for rehabilitation and robotic applications.
I got several clips of people playing the games and prepared a video to show the experience coming directly from them.
I am very satisfied overall and I am very thankfull to the organizers of the MakerFaire to give my project this opportunity. Let's see where this goes.
In the meantime, this is the video, enjoy:
And that's all,
See you soon
Manuel
